The “all new” HTC One, the latest flagship by HTC boasts a 2.3GHz Snapdragon 801, 2GB of RAM and a 5-inch screen. It’s got either 16GB or 32GB of memory, but a microSD slot is available for adding up to 128GB more. It runs Android KitKat 4.4, but on top of that, it’s running Sense 6.0 which includes BlinkFeed and a heavy focus on themes.

At 5.76 inches tall it’s slightly longer than last year’s One, but the larger display fits in virtually the same body, says The Verge. The UltraPixel shooter in back is basically the same camera as last year — a four megapixel backside-illuminated sensor with giant 2µm pixels, but with a new imaging processor attached. HTC has ditched the optical image stabilization.

It’s unique feature is it’s second camera on the back. The second “camera” isn’t actually a camera in the traditional sense, it’s a depth sensor. It allows the One to perform all tricks in post processing, such as blurring backgrounds or changing the focus point like a Lytro.

Both the Galaxy S5 and the new HTC One, come with 1080 by 1920 screens. The S5 is 5.1-inches, while the HTC One is 5 inches. Pixel density figures are 432 and 441 ppi respectively.

The One includes a Snapdragon 801 with much improved graphic performance and two parts of Qualcomm’s RF360 radio system, the envelope tracker, to improve battery life and an antenna matching tuner, to detect which antennas may be covered by your hand. Qualcomm’s modems support several carriers’ bands at once, but carriers wanted individual radio bandings (making it difficult to move to different carriers).

Like its predecessor, the handset will come to all four major US carriers: AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, and T-Mobile. Customers can purchase it online today. The 16 GB model will cost $199 with a two-year contract and the 32 GB model will cost $249 with a two-year contract. HTC also said unlocked and developer editions of the HTC One M8 will also be available to customers through www.htc.com for $650 while Google’s Play edition sells for $699.
