Research firm IDC says the tablet market is slowing, with shipments of both tablets and 2-in-1 devices forecast to grow 19.4 percent in 2014, down from a growth rate of 51.6 percent in 2013.

IDC cut its 2014 growth forecast by 3.6 percent, and now thinks there will be shipments of 260.9 million units worldwide in 2014.

In 2012, average selling prices dropped by 18.3 percent from the previous year, and in 2013 prices fell another 14.6 percent. However, IDC thinks ASPs will only fall 3.6 percent in 2014, mostly because of the growth of higher-priced devices.
