Marvell said today its integrated quad-core System-on-Chip (SoC) platform, will power Lenovo’s first TD-LTE smartphone and is well positioned to support China Mobile’s plans to sell 100 million 4G LTE smart phones in 2014.

The Android-based Lenovo A788T smartphone is priced around 1,000 RMB (approx U.S. $165). It will support three communication modes, Time Division Long-Term Evolution (TD-LTE), Time Division Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access (TD-SCDMA), and Global Systems for Mobile (GSM).

Marvell’s PXA1088LTE single-chip solution and the launch of the LTE Lenova smartphone marks the first 4G collaboration between Lenovo and Marvell for the China market.

Marvell also announced that Hisense, a leading Chinese electronics manufacturer, has launched the 4G X8T LTE smartphone for approx U.S. $165 using Marvell’s ARMADA Mobile PXA1088 LTE single-chip solution. The smartphone features a 5-Inch, FWVGA screen, 4GB ROM+1GB RAM memory, 5M pixel camera and Android Jelly Bean 4.3.

Marvell’s single-chip solution features a quad-core ARM Cortex A7 processor with high performance graphics integrated with field-proven cellular modems supporting LTE TDD and FDD, High Speed Packet Access Plus (HSPA+), Time division High Speed Packet Access Plus (TD-HSPA+), Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) and Enhanced Data for GSM Environment (EDGE).
