Pebble’s new Appstore, which opened last week, will offer users of the smartwatch one destination for apps and digital watch faces.
The Pebble appstore will live within the existing Pebble app on your iOS or Android device, so you can find and download Pebble apps directly from your smartphone. Previously, Pebble users had to load software through a more cumbersome process.
Out of the box, the Pebble smartwatch can use its e-ink display to show notifications, control music on your smartphone, vibrate for alarms and other features. Now the device can become a command center for a slew of uses.
Featured partners include Yelp, Foursquare, GoPro and ESPN. Apps like Pebble GPS, PebbGPS and Maptastic can geo-locate using your phone’s GPS and show maps on your wrist.
The new Pebble app for iOS, which includes the Pebble appstore, is now available for download in the iTunes Store. A beta of the Pebble app for Android which includes the Pebble appstore is now available for developers.
